LaKedria Lozano
LaKedria Lozano, affectionately known to her students as "Ms L" or "Ms. Ke" has nearly 20 years of teaching experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree from West Liberty University ( 2009). She holds master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from Marshall University (2011) and Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University (2015). She holds post master’s certifications in Adult Education and Learning Capella University ( 2014), She is also an elementary education specialist (National University 2020) and has been a tutor both in person and online for over 10 years. She has extensive training in the Science of Reading best practices and is Orton - Gillingham trained to assist struggling readers. She has served as an adjunct professor of music at Lourdes University, Eastern Gateway Community College and currently, Franciscan University of Steubenville where she taught/ teaches Music Appreciation, Survey of Sacred Music, Music Theory, and Applied Voice Lessons. She works with educators and students using Whole Brain Teaching strategies and is a Platinum Certified Trainer.
LaKedria has been featured as a soprano soloist for many works including Vivaldi's “Gloria”, Alan Hovhaness’ “Glory to God”, Handel's “Messiah”, Theodore Dubois “Seven Last Words of Christ”, John Rutter’s “Requiem”, and the world premiere of “Dream of Freedom” by Dr. Evan Mack. She has also been a featured choral member for the premiere of “Paradise Lost” by Eric Whitacre at Carnegie Hall. She has traveled to Italy preformed at the Vatican. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing ( NATS) The American Choral Directors Association ( ACDA) . In addition to performing, LaKedria serves as a classroom educator both in music and general education and is in high demand as a clinician and a presenter. In addition to performing, she maintains a voice studio in Toledo, serves as the director of music at God's Lighthouse Academy and Serves as the Worship Director at Northpoint Church of the Nazarene. Her voice students and choral ensembles have won awards at regional, national, and international competitions.
At GAEE she is the primary teacher to all students and manages the day to day operations of the school.
In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her husband Don, her four children Espy, Renny, Lio, and Rio and her four-legged fur children. You will find her reading, crocheting, or more than likely trying to figure out what certification or degree to get next, she is a lifelong learner and hopes that passion comes through in her teaching.
Administrator
Don is a Michigan native who is never afraid to show his love for the Michigan Wolverines football team. He currently serves on the board of Northpoint Church of the Nazarene. He is also a member of the sound technician crew. He has studied psychology and Political Science at Midwest Community College, Oakland University, and University of Michigan. He is currently a student at Berklee College of Music and is majoring in Music Production.
He has worked as an assistant manager at Dominoes Pizza, and has worked for several companies as a delivery driver. Most of the time you will find Don driving his family from point A to B, playing on his PS5, being a super dad, or playing magic the gathering or Pokémon card games.
At GAEE Don works behind the scenes, assisting with webpage design, or other administrative tasks.
